The impact of Artificial Intelligence systems on vulnerable workers: bridging anti-discrimination directives and the AI Act

Abstract: The article analyses the impact of artificial intelligence systems on workers at risk of discrimination in the EU labour market. It explores how anti discrimination directives and the AI Act interact within a multilevel and risk-based framework to prevent and remedy discriminatory outcomes produced by AI systems. Particular attention is placed on equality bodies, whose strengthened functions and powers position them as key institutional actors bridging the traditional anti-discrimination framework and the emerging governance of high-risk AI systems.
